Why I Write Modern Parables

Parable is a term that comes to us straight from the original Greek language. It simply means “to throw alongside.” It is a method of communicating truth by tying the known to the unknown. It takes understandable things and draws straight lines to deeper spiritual truths. Jesus used this simple method of storytelling to proclaim hidden facts about the Kingdom. “The Kingdom of God is like....” he would say - and then throw something known right alongside, be it a seed, a tree, a lost coin… everyday stuff.


I believe there are truths beneath the surface of our lives just waiting to be revealed. In writing in parable form, I hope to flip a switch that sheds light on God’s eternal truth… and my prayer is that truth will settle in your heart, so that you will know Him better.
